Shiatsu can be very relaxing. However, there is also the potential affect that
can be invigorating, giving you a burst of energy that can last for days to come. Some experience soreness or possibly muscle tenderness for a day or two, similar to a great workout, when you're getting back in shape. Better sleep, digestion and overall function of the nervous system has also been reported and may be potential benefits. Headaches and chronic tension has subsided and stress relief is a very common report from previous recipients. the benefits of Shiatsu go on and on, but one thing is for sure, follow up treatments and self care is essential to maintain good health and wellbeing for years to come.
Treatments are Individually formulated, based on priorities. Various massage and bodywork techniques can be used depending on those priorities. Having extensive training, the therapist offers the client the freedom to execute a treatment plan that fits the need to address concerns directly. Each session is bases on the flow of “chi” or life force energy, that is bases on an assessment on that day. Balancing the forces in the body, through the Meridians, Chakras and Energy systems of the recipient, the certified shiatsu therapist is trained to get to the underlying imbalance and treat to restore balance. For thousands of years Shiatsu has been a valuable treatment to benefit the whole body in Traditional Chinese Medicine. TCM is the same system that Acupuncture is based in, and Shiatsu has been compared to “Acupuncture with-out the Needles”. Sometimes called, Acupressure, as the name suggests, pressure is systematically applied to "acupuncture- points" along the body using the thumb, palm, fingers, elbow and knee. Stretches and rotations of the joints, gentle rocking and rolling of the muscles and tissues of body also help the bring to total relaxation and regeneration.
